Our Brands

Our knitwear comes from two New Zealand makers, each producing two distinct brands. Between them they cover the full range of natural fibre knitwear — from high-possum luxury blends to vibrant pure merino.

From a family-run workroom in Warkworth, an hour north of Auckland, where every garment is hand-cut, carefully assembled, and individually examined before leaving the workroom. Traditional cut, make, and sew methods — not mass production.

Koru is the maker's signature line — possum merino knitwear with a premium lofty finish and a distinctly New Zealand character. The blend of 40% possum fur, 50% merino lambswool, and 10% mulberry silk delivers serious warmth without weight, with the softness the fibre combination is known for.

What sets Koru apart in the possum merino space is their use of genuine possum fur trims. Fur-trimmed gloves, beanies, and jackets appear throughout the range — a tactile, distinctive detail no other possum merino brand offers. Select styles use a 25% possum, 65% merino, 10% silk blend for a lighter hand.

Trilogy is a smaller, focused range from the same Warkworth workroom — same craftsmanship, lighter blend. At 25% possum fur, 65% merino wool, and 10% silk, it delivers genuine possum merino softness and warmth with a slightly lighter feel. A curated edit of wardrobe essentials for those who prefer a less insulating blend.

From an Auckland workroom backed by 150 years of family wool-growing heritage — handcrafted possum merino knitwear made by fourth-generation Marlborough farmers.

McDonald New Zealand stands out in the possum merino space for their approach to colour and pattern. Where most brands offer solids and simple textures, McDonald brings ombré gradients and tartan designs — a genuinely fashion-forward sensibility applied to natural fibre knitwear. Their blend of 35% possum fur, 55% merino wool, and 10% mulberry silk suits their design-led aesthetic well.

Royal Merino is a different proposition entirely — 100% superfine merino (19.5 micron), no possum blend. If Koru and McDonald are about serious insulation, Royal Merino is about colour, versatility, and the particular qualities of pure merino: lightweight breathability, natural temperature regulation, and a soft hand-feel that works across seasons.

The range is notably vibrant. Where possum merino tends toward earthy, natural tones, Royal Merino leans into bold, considered colour — making these pieces easy to build an outfit around rather than simply layer under one. A strong choice for milder climates, travel, or anyone who wants quality natural fibres in something less traditional.
